Voices Unveiled: An Evening of Black & Latino Artistry in Berkeley

On May 1, The Berkeley Pulse brought students, artists, and community members together at Headlands Brewing Berkeley for Voices Unveiled, an intimate showcase celebrating Black and Latino creativity. Through music, poetry, comedy, storytelling, and performance, the evening created space for emerging voices to share their work, their identities, and the experiences that shape their art.

The showcase featured six performers: Annie Neff, Chris Chew, Sofia Garnica Aguilar Alvarez, Daniela Maciel Navarro, Midnight, and Daremuri. Each artist brought a distinct style and perspective to the stage, giving the audience a program that moved between laughter, reflection, vulnerability, and celebration. Rather than centering a single artistic form, Voices Unveiled highlighted the range of expression flourishing both at UC Berkeley and throughout the surrounding community.

More than a performance, the event reflected The Berkeley Pulse’s larger mission: building welcoming spaces where student and local artists can connect, take creative risks, and be heard. The energy inside Headlands demonstrated what becomes possible when community, culture, and artistic expression share the same stage.
