‘Freedom’ Poetry Workshop: General Meeting #1

In our very first general meeting as a student organization and club at UC Berkeley, The Berkeley Pulse was successful in building a community, drawing in 30 members to discuss their love for poetry and expression, learning three modes of poetry as they received an opportunity to share their jokes and happiness, but express necessary thoughts and emotions.

After the meeting, more than half of the group moved on to the social for the night, hosted at Cali’s Sports Bar on Telegraph Avenue. The group was accompanied by a retired UC Berkeley professor, bridging the generational gap between creatives and academics at UC Berkeley.

This was the first of five general meetings which will be hosted by The Berkeley Pulse in the Spring, 2026 semester. Meetings are held every other Thursday from 7:00-8:30 p.m., at Social Sciences 166. Each meeting will have a different topic or skill that the group will learn, practice, and come away having built an expressive community.
